Historical Societies
It appears that a lot of the websites related to Historical Societies need a lot of work. My guess is that they were started when the Internet was young by willing members that really had no clue on how to make a website. To be fair I am not sure my efforts at the time were much better.
It also appears that when it comes to 2020 it is far easier to post things to Facebook (than to a website).
It is highly unlikely that the owners of the websites that I may mention here see this page and I am not looking for work to help them improve their sites. In fact, my comments are just my opinion and they may not agree. I they do, I am more than willing to discuss it with them. I do not want to re-write anyones website.
Foxearth and District
F&DLHS are, in my opinion, one of the better historical websites that I have come across. Mainly due to the breadth of content. The site is authored by Andrew Clarke of MML Systems.
Last time that I looked the website was not "Mobile Friendly". I do like the "Waffle" generator concept.
As I say there is a LOT of information on tempusfugit.me.uk and I have lots of links to other websites.
Notes to self
I had a problem on this page relating to a canonical reference.
Visit in September 2022 - no idea what the search terms were as was probably a Google search. I would guess that it was the person or persons interested in the creation and maintenance of the Foxearth site.
As I say at the top of this page, which was started before 2020, that I have no interest in writing or coding a site for another existing website and tempusfugit.me.uk is just my own experiment.
I could never aspire to the efforts of Andrew Clark, the Hysterical Hystorian.
