Holbrook

Visited 4 July 2023 along with Woolverstone, Chelmondiston, Erwarton, Harkstead and Shotley.

Holbrook is the location of the Royal Hospital School (RHS) on the Shotley Peninsular, Sout-West Suffolk.

On our visits to the Shotley Peninsular the most usual route is to start South of Ipswich and follow the Stour estuary through Woolverstone and follow the coast-line around to Holbrook approaching Holbrook from the South-East. The Royal Hospital School is a left turn from the road from Harkstead normally on the way to Scutton. Scutton was not visited on the 4th July crawl as we ran out of steam. The church of All Saints, Holbrook had been missed on previous trips.

The location is also close to Alton Water, the main parking area is good place for a picnic, driving North from Holbrook church takes you on the Northern side of the reservoir, the parking areas not being suitable to stop and have a picnic. However the route does take you through Tattingstone past the Tattingstone Wonder.
